Using the 10 hp 4-stroke Honda engine on the steel boat
The most important thing to remember about this engine is that it is a 4-stroke engine. It takes straight gas only.
If the engine has been running recently, then try to start it without the choke first. If it doesn't start by the 2nd pull, then use the choke.
Starting
- Squeeze the primer bulb if the engine has been sitting overnight
- Pull the choke out all the way and twist the throttle a little bit
- Give the pull-cord a solid pull (try up to 5 or 6 times)
- As soon as the engine turns over, wait a second or two and push the choke back in
If it doesn't start
- OR if it stalls suddenly, check the gas line as it could be pinched
- Make sure the gas line is connected at the tank and engine
- Make sure the red safety wire is attached under the kill switch
- If the throttle has been twisted too much, it could be flooded
- Wait 15 minutes and try again
